GROWN IN DETROIT fruits and vegetables are grown by families and youth in community gardens and urban farms throughout Detroit, Highland Park and Hamtramck.  GROWN IN DETROIT sells their produce at local and neighborhood scale farmers' markets. For more information on GROWN IN DETROIT and where to buy FRESH, HEALTHY, LOCALLY GROWN produce, please contact Nicki at 313-237-8733 x 250 or visit our calendar.

BUY FRESH! BUY LOCAL!

Locally grown produce is thousands of miles fresher and tastes better than food shipped long distances from other states or countries. The average distance food travels to get to your plate is 1500 miles. In addition to being healthy for you and your family, locally grown produce is healthy for the environment because it reduces fossil fuel use.

Locally grown food strengthens our local economy! Buying local food keeps your dollars circulating in your community. GROWN IN DETROIT produce keeps dollars in Detroit and helps support families in Detroit, Hamtramck, and Highland Park.

GROWN IN DETROIT fruits and vegetables are grown by families & youth in community gardens and urban farms found in backyards, city parks, vacant lots, and school yards throughout Detroit, Hamtramck, and Highland Park. In addition to providing healthy food to inner city communities, our gardens and farms benefit city neighborhoods by beautifying streets, improving property values, building relationships between neighbors, and reducing crime.

GROWN IN DETROIT growers build healthy soil and promote clean air and water by utilizing organic and sustainable farming practices.  GROWN IN DETROIT also promotes human health and nutrition by using careful handling practices before and after harvest.

GROWN IN DETROIT fruits and vegetables are produced without synthetic chemicals, pesticides, fertilizers, or Genetically Modified (GMO) products.
